How Does American Eagle Rewards Work?

If you love to shop at American Eagle, you might as well earn rewards for it, right? The American Eagles Rewards program is easy, free, and you can earn a nice discount just for buying your favorite clothes.

American Eagle sells men’s and women’s clothing and accessories and their sister store Aerie sells women’s activewear, bras, and underwear. Both stores sell high-quality clothing and are popular for all ages.

Here’s everything we know about the American Eagle Rewards program and how it works.

What are American Eagle Rewards?

American Eagle Rewards or Real Rewards are rewards earned for purchases made at American Eagle Outfitters or Aerie. Whether you purchase in-store or online, you earn 10 points for every dollar spent (for starters). When you earn 1,250 points, you’ll receive a $5 reward to use on your next purchase.

You earn points automatically with each purchase – you don’t have to clip coupons or buy something specific. It’s a simple program that rewards you for shopping.

How do American Eagle Rewards Work?

Once you sign up for AE Rewards, you provide your rewards card, the barcode on your phone using the American Eagle app, your email address, or phone number at checkout and you’ll get credit for your purchase. If you shop online, log into your AE account before checking out so you get credit for the purchase.

You can keep track of your points by logging into your AE account online or on the app. When you spend enough money to earn a reward ($125), American Eagle emails you the $5 reward, but you can opt to have it texted too by providing your mobile number.

There are ways to earn points faster or to climb the level ranking to earn more points for every purchase. It’s a simple program that anyone can use and it’s not too hard to find yourself as a Level 2 or 3.

American Eagle Rewards Levels – How do they Work?

As we mentioned above, American Eagle Rewards has different levels. Everyone starts at Level 1 – it’s free to join and there’s no minimum spend required.

Level 1 members enjoy:

  • 10 points per $1 spent
  • 2x points on jeans
  • Member only deals at Aerie
  • Member only deals at American Eagle
  • Free shipping over $50
  • 15% off coupon on your birthday

To reach level 2, you must spend $150 a year and in addition to everything above, you’ll earn:

  • 15 points per $1 spent instead of 10 points
  • Better member-only deals at American Eagle
  • 20% off coupon on your birthday

If you spend $350 a year, you’ll reach the top tier Level 3 and enjoy everything above plus:

  • 20 points per $1 spent instead of 10 points
  • The best member-only deals at American Eagle
  • Free shipping on any amount
  • Free returns
  • 25% off coupon on your birthday

How to get the Birthday Discount from American Eagle?

It’s easy to get your birthday discount from American Eagle. As long as you sign up for the free American Eagle Rewards program and provide your birthday in your profile, you’ll get your coupon.

You can use the coupon during your birthday month and if you happen to make it to Level 2 or 3, you’ll earn even more than the basic 15% off coupon you’ll receive as a free, Level 1 member.

Ways to Earn Bonus Points

Members can earn bonus points every time they purchase a pair of American Eagle Jeans. Each jeans purchase earns 2x points. This means rather than 10 points per dollar spent, you’ll earn 20 points per dollar spent for Level 1 members; 30 points per dollar spent for Level 2 members, and 40 points per dollar spent for Level 3 members.

American Eagle makes it easy to earn bonus points in other ways too. Periodically, they send offers for bonus points or ways to earn more points on your purchase. Make sure you have American Eagle and Aerie emails marked as safe in your email so you always see the available offers.

What Does American Eagle Rewards Cost?

Many reward programs have a cost, but the American Eagle Rewards program is 100% free. You can join before you even make a purchase too – you’ll just be at Level 1 earning 10 points per $1 spent. It’s not hard to work your way up to Level 2 since it’s pretty easy to spend $150 at American Eagle, even when you use coupons. Just know that your points accumulate on any amount after discounts and before taxes or shipping charges.

American Eagle Rewards FAQs

Why is your email address necessary to sign up for American Eagle Rewards?

American Eagle primarily communicates with its members via email. It’s where they send your rewards, offers, and special sales. If you’d prefer to have your rewards texted to you, that’s an option as well, but an email address is required to open an account.

What counts as a qualifying purchase to earn American Eagle Rewards?

Qualifying purchase is any purchase made at American Eagle or Aerie in-person, online, or over the phone. All rewards are credited after discounts and before taxes or shipping costs. Gift cards and charitable contributions don’t count. You do, however, earn points if you pay with a credit card.

Do American Eagle Rewards expire?

Technically, American Eagle Rewards points don’t expire, but if you aren’t an active member, which means you make at least one purchase in 375 days, you will lose any accumulated points.

How do you get free shipping if you’re a Level 3 member?

If you’re a Level 3 member, all you have to do is log into your account when shopping. The system recognizes your tier level and will automatically give you free shipping. You don’t have to spend a certain amount to get the free shipping, so you could even buy one shirt or one pair of pants and get free shipping.

How long does it take for your account to go to the next level?

If you hit the $150 or $350 threshold, your American Eagle REwards account automatically goes to the appropriate level. For example, if you hit the $150 mark for the year, you’ll see that you’re a Level 2 within 15 days of your purchase. If you hit $350, you’ll become a Level 3 in around 15 days. You can always check your account online and call American Eagle customer service if you don’t think your account level is correct.
