9 Appliance Stores with Same Day Delivery

Appliances have a way of breaking down at the worst times. Whether you’re about to have company, you’re leaving for vacation, or you just can’t live without your washer, dryer, refrigerator, or dishwasher, some stores offer same-day delivery.

It comes at a cost, which isn’t a surprise, but knowing which stores offer the service can help you narrow down where to shop when you’re in a pinch.

What Appliance Stores Offer Same Day Delivery?

1. Best Buy

Best Buy offers same-day delivery on eligible products including appliances. You must order by 3 PM to get it delivered by 9 PM the same day. If you miss the cutoff, you’ll receive delivery the next day.

If the appliance you want is eligible for same-day delivery, you’ll see the option when you checkout. Best Buy partners with third-party delivery services who pick up the product from them and deliver it to you. After you check out, you’ll receive a tracking link to see when your appliance will deliver.

Not all products are eligible for same-day delivery. It’s reserved for in-stock products at your local store. The cost varies by location and service provider in the area.

Apps that Offer Same Day Appliance Delivery

1. Dolly

Dolly isn’t a retail store, but it’s a delivery service you can hire to pick up your appliances in-store and deliver them the same day. This works well if you have local appliance stores with in-stock products you can buy and take home right away.

With Dolly, you choose the time and your ‘helper’ goes to the store, picks up your order, and delivers it using his/her truck. You know the price and terms upfront and never have to leave your home.

2. GoShare

GoShare is another app that connects consumers with professionals who can deliver your appliances on the same day. You can book professionals to come within the hour or you can schedule your appointment in advance.

You’ll get a free estimate instantly in the app so you can decide if the service is affordable for you. Once you choose a professional, you provide them with the details of your appliance’s location. They pick it up from the store and deliver it to you. Some professionals may even bring it into your home if you choose this option.

Tips to Make Same Day Appliance Delivery Work for You

Prepare for a Late Delivery

Depending on the time of day that you order, you might receive your appliance as late as 9 PM or sometimes later depending on the store and area. The earlier you order the item, the earlier it might come, but prepare for a late night just in case.

Know the Cost

Most stores charge for same-day delivery because it’s convenient. Even stores that offer free standard delivery typically charge. Ask about the fees upfront so you aren’t unpleasantly surprised when you’re checking out.

Know the Cutoff Time

Every store has a different cutoff time for same-day delivery. Don’t cut it close – order as early as you can to ensure you get the product the same day. Most stores allow orders up to noon or 1 PM, but each store has different rules.

Know how you Must Order

Some stores allow same-day delivery on products you order online, but many only accept same-day orders in-store or over the phone. Read the fine print and if you still aren’t sure, call the store to find out.

Get the Area as Ready as Possible

Some stores offer old appliance removal, but not all do. Before you buy an appliance for same-day delivery, make sure there is a clear path for them to bring the appliance and that the old appliance is moved out of the way as much as possible.

Decide how you’ll Dispose of the Old Appliance

If the store you’re buying from doesn’t offer free haul away, work on a way to get rid of the old appliance before the new one arrives. If nothing else, see if you can haul it into the garage so it’s out of the way while you work on a way to dispose of it.

FAQs – Same Day Appliance Delivery

How much should you tip an appliance delivery driver?

Tipping appliance delivery drivers aren’t required, but it’s a nice gesture, especially for same-day delivery. The delivery driver is offering you great convenience and possibly helping you avoid serious issues like being without a refrigerator.

If you have room in your budget, consider tipping $5 – $20 to the delivery driver or more if you feel it’s warranted.

What does same-day delivery mean?

When you order appliances for same-day delivery, make sure you read the fine print. To us, it sounds like the appliance will be delivered the day you ordered it, but there is sometimes a loose definition depending on the retailer. You may need to order by a certain time to make the cutoff or the item may be delivered the next day.

Read the fine print or call the store to find out what same-day delivery means to the retailer you plan to buy your appliance from before committing.

How long is typical appliance delivery?

Same-day appliance delivery is fairly new and is restricted to items in stock, which during the pandemic means not many products. Generally, appliances take 4 to 6 days to deliver, but in times like we’re experiencing, it’s not unusual to see delivery times as long as 2 to 3 weeks.

Is same-day appliance delivery worth it?

If you’re in a bind and can’t be without your appliance, same-day appliance delivery can be worth it. Most stores don’t gauge the prices, making it easier to afford the cost when you’re in need of an appliance right away.

If you can wait a couple of days, you may be able to score free delivery though, so it’s worth weighing the pros and cons of waiting for the product since you might save money.

Final Thoughts – Is Same Day Appliance Delivery Worth It?

Same-day appliance delivery can be worth it in the right situation. It works best when you already know what you want, such as buying the same appliance you already have. If you need to shop around or aren’t sure which appliance is right for you, same-day delivery may be too stressful since you’re up against the clock. If you miss the cutoff, your appliance will deliver the next day.

Many stores offer the option for same-day delivery, but it depends if they have the appliances in stock. While stock levels are increasing more than they were during the heart of the pandemic, many stores still have a low inventory so you may have to shop around to find same-day delivery in your area.
