How Does Ace Rewards Work & Are They Worth It?

Ace Hardware is the place to get everything you need for your home repairs and home improvement. Whether you’re buying tools, yard care products, or a new grill, Ace has everything you need to make your house perfect.

If you love shopping at your local Ace versus the larger big box stores, you’re in for a big treat. Ace Rewards is a loyalty program that rewards you for every dollar you spend. If you’re a loyal Ace shopper, don’t pass up a chance to earn cashback on your purchases.

Whether you spend only a few dollars at a time, or make large purchases, you’ll be rewarded for your spending, and it doesn’t take a lot of spending to get rewards fast.

What are Ace Rewards?

With Ace Rewards, you earn points every time you spend money at Ace. You earn 10 points for every dollar you spend both in-store and online. It’s like getting rewarded to spend money and since Ace is a place where you buy ‘necessary’ items, it’s like getting paid to buy what you have to buy.

If that’s not enough, Ace Rewards members also have access to exclusive offers, instant savings, and free shipping from the store on orders over $50. Rewards members have many opportunities to save a lot of money both on exclusive offers and with points.

How to Sign up for Ace Rewards?

It’s easy to sign up for Ace Hardware Rewards using these steps.

  1. Click on Join Now
  2. Click Create an Account
  3. Provide your first name, last name, address, phone number, and email address
  4. Create a password
  5. Choose whether or not to receive Ace Hardware emails
  6. Click ‘Create an Account’ and you are an Ace Rewards member

How do you Earn Ace Rewards?

Ace has two membership tiers – ‘Member’ and ‘Premier.’ Everyone starts as a ‘Member’ when they sign up (for free), but you can work your way up to ‘Premier’ with $750 spent in a 12-month period.

No matter your tier, everyone earns 10 points for every dollar spent. You start earning points as soon as you sign up and once you accumulate 2,500 points, you earn a $5 reward.

That means you only need to spend $250 to get a $5 reward. If you’re anything like us, it’s not hard to spend $250 when you’re maintaining or repairing your home. Hardware stores are as necessary as grocery stores, so you’ll likely get rewarded often.

You can earn rewards shopping in-store or online. If you shop online, make sure you log into your Ace Rewards account before checking out. You’ll automatically earn the rewards for your purchase. If you shop in-store and have an Ace Rewards card, present it to the cashier. If you misplaced it or forgot it, you can provide the phone number used to sign up.

How Ace Rewards Membership Tiers Work?

Ace has two membership tiers. You start out as a ‘Member’, but can quickly work your way up to ‘Premier’ with $750 in spending. Everyone in the ‘Member tier earns:

  • 10 points for every dollar spent
  • 1,000 bonus points for signing up
  • $5 new member award (if you provide your mailing address)
  • Access to member only events
  • Free delivery on orders of $50+
  • A $5 birthday voucher
  • A $5 bonus if you download the Ace app
  • More ways to earn points in the Ace app
  • Offers just for Ace app users

If you have over $750 qualified spending in a calendar year, you’ll move up to the ‘Premier’ Membership. With this membership you get everything ‘Member’ tiers get, plus:

  • $10 birthday voucher
  • Extra bonuses in the Ace app
  • 10% off an item of your choice
  • 3x points on a purchase of your choice

What can you get with Ace Rewards?

All Ace points reward you with a $5 voucher every time you accumulate 2,500 points (spend $250). Ace sends out the vouchers each Monday for points balances of 2,500 or more as of the Sunday night before. All rewards are digital and you’re notified via email.

What are the Benefits of Ace Hardware Rewards?

  • It’s free
  • You get rewarded for spending money
  • You can support a local hardware store versus a big box store
  • Your points never expire
  • If you don’t use your digital voucher within 30 days, Ace sends you a physical copy in the mail as a reminder
  • You’ll receive as many rewards as you’ve earned, so if you spend $500, you’ll receive two $5 vouchers the following Monday
  • You can combine vouchers for even more money off your next purchase

What are the Downsides?

It’s hard to believe there would be any downsides to a free rewards program, but it’s important to look at the big picture.

The largest downside is not every Ace Hardware participates. Only retail stores, not all privately owned stores participate. It varies by owner, so always ask in store to see if your local Ace participates.

It can take up to five days for points to credit to your account too. Keep your receipts and check your balance periodically to make sure you were credited. If you aren’t, you can call Ace customer service at 888-827-4223.

Ace Rewards FAQs

How can I check my points balance?

The easiest way to check your Ace Rewards balance is to download the app (you get bonus points for doing it) and check your points there. If you don’t have the app, you can log in online on a PC or in-store by asking a cashier to look up your balance.

Can you earn points on every purchase?

For the most part, yes, you earn points on every purchase, but like msot programs, there are exclusions. The largest exclusion we see of concern is the purchase of lumber or building materials and rentals. It also excludes fuel, firearms and tobacco.

What are the benefits of the Ace Rewards app?

Downloading the Ace Rewards app provides you with many benefits:

– $5 bonus for downloading the app
– 24/7 access to your rewards
– Earn bonus points (up to 1,000 points) for referring friends and family
– Free store pickup ordering on the app
– Easy access to events at your local store

How long does it take for Ace Rewards to show up?

It takes up to 5 business days for points to show up in your account. If you don’t see points you think you earned, contact Ace Customer Support. Always save your receipts until you know your points were awarded. If you have a problem, you’ll need to prove your purchase and to show that it wasn’t anything they don’t include in their points program.

What is my Ace Rewards number?

If you have a physical Ace Rewards card, it’s on the back of your card – it’s a 19-digit number.

How do I get my Ace Rewards?

You’ll automatically get your Ace Rewards in your account when you spend at least $250. For every $250 you spend, you’ll earn a $5 voucher. Ace loads in your app and sends you a voucher via email. If you don’t use it in a month, they’ll also send you a physical voucher in the mail.

How do I redeem my Ace Rewards?

It’s easy to use your Ace Rewards. They work just like a gift card. You present the voucher to your cashier if you shop in-store, or you log into your Ace Rewards account online before shopping. You can even log in on the app and shop right from your app.

How much does it cost to join Ace Rewards?

This is the best part – it’s free! You earn points for spending money, but it doesn’t cost anything to join the program. You’ll automatically be part of the ‘Member’ tier when you join. There’s no minimum spend required to stay in this tier. To get the ‘extra’ bonuses of the ‘Premier’ membership, you must spend $750 in the calendar year.

Ace Rewards – Should you Sign Up?

If you frequent your local Ace Hardware and it’s not a privately owned store, it’s worth signing up for Ace Rewards. It’s free, and you’ll earn rewards just for spending money. Most people spend at least $250 a year at a hardware store, and if you can earn money back for doing it, why not?

Even if you don’t like messing with points and wondering if you earned rewards, Ace Rewards members have access to exclusive deals, free delivery, and other special events that make it worth it to be an ‘insider.’ It doesn’t cost anything to join and if you can earn a few benefits – we think it’s worth the few seconds it takes to sign up!

  1. I have a 3X points card I received in the mail. I read the information on the card front and back and read the information above and still don’t know how to benefit from the 3X Point card.

  2. I receive Ace card coupons and I’m a Rewards member but when I go to the store say to get over 50$ of birdseed and suet, I’m told the card don’t apply. Thats a gold edge card or a black edge card or a red edge card etc. So many times I’ve driven the distance from my home to get the Hot buys in your circular (if it happened to come the week of the sale) which has happened. Only to be told we don’t have Ball lids or the shop vac that says limit 4 and not 1 is in stock haven’t been in stock don’t know if and when we will get them if ever, and no rain checks. At Lowes I have a card and get 5% off every purchase every time, its in my wallet always, not left at home on the counter with other mail, when I’m out by your store going or coming from somewhere else. Your program is very cumbersome and causes me more frustration than value or convenience. Sorry, love the people at my Ace and your products, not your rewards program. This program and your marketing circulars should be an embarrassment to your company, and I buy and rent from the Mountain view store a lot, but because of this program not as often as I would!

  3. I believe my ACE is privately owned. When I purchased Sunflower seed
…There was an instant savings… I think. At least it was shown on the receipt.
