How do you Earn Petco Pals Rewards?
Each time you shop at Petco in-store or online, provide your Petco Pals Rewards number. If you shop online, you must log into your account before checking out. Members earn points on each dollar spent excluding taxes, shipping costs, gift card purchases, and donations to the Petco Foundation.
Petco usually updates accounts within 5 days of your purchase. If you don’t see your points accrued and you think it’s in error, contact Petco Customer Service.

What can you get with Petco Pals Rewards?
All qualifying Petco purchases accrue Petco Pals points. Once you reach 100 points, you’ll receive a $5 certificate in your account. If you make a purchase worth $200 at one time, you’ll receive two $5 certificates in your account.
All rewards certificates can be used towards purchases of $5 or more. They cannot be redeemed for cash or gift cards.
Petco Pals Rewards members may also earn free food for their pet. If you download the Petco app, and go to your Petco Pals Rewards account, it keeps track of the number of food packages you purchase. Once you buy 7 packages of food, you’ll earn a free bag of dry cat or dog food.
Receiving your Petco Pals Rewards
Once you earn a $5 reward certificate, Petco loads it into your account. You can see it when you log into your dashboard, but to use it, you must load it into your account. If you’re unable to load the certificate onto your account, call Petco Customer Service at 1-888-824-7257.
You may also print the reward voucher and present it to the cashier when you checkout in-store if you can’t load the reward onto your account.

What are the Downsides of Petco Pals Rewards?
Even though it’s free to join and you earn money back just for shopping for essentials for your pet, there are some downsides to consider:
- You only have 45 days to spend your $5 reward. If you don’t use it, you lose it.
- Your $5 reward is applied before any coupons you have for your purchase, which may make it harder to reach the spending requirement for the coupon.
- Your total must be over $5 to use a reward certificate.
- Gift cards don’t count toward your purchase to earn reward points.
- If you don’t make a purchase for 6 months, you lose any points you’ve accrued.

Do Petco Pals Rewards expire?
Yes, if your account is inactive (no purchases made) for 180 days, your account is reset to 0 points and you must start over again. Once you’re issued a Petco Pals Reward ($5), you have 45 days to use it or it expires.
How will you know when you’ve received a reward?
Once you spend $100 and receive your $5 reward, Petco will send you an email within 5 business days. If you want to see your points sooner or you know you earned a reward, you can log into your account to see your points and reward levels.
Can you use rewards on the same day you earn them?
It takes up to 5 business days for Petco to update your account with your points and rewards (if applicable). You cannot spend your reward the day you earn it – you must wait until it’s loaded on your account.
What happens if you return a product bought with Petco Pals Rewards?
If you used a PayPal Rewards voucher to buy products that you return, you’ll only receive the amount of cash spent. For example, if you bought something for $10, but used a PayPal Reward for $5, you’d only receive $5 back, not the full $10.

Petco Pals Rewards – Should you Sign Up?
If you shop at Petco often, it makes sense to sign up for Petco Pals Rewards. You’ll earn $5 for every $100, which is only 5%, but it’s better than nothing. Since you can combine your Petco Pals Rewards with other Petco coupons, there is the potential for great savings.
Stay updated on your rewards so you know your balance and when you have a reward. You must shop at Petco at least once every six months to keep your points and reward certificates expire in 45 days. Stay aware so you don’t lose your hard-earned rewards.

The earning formula has changed. It is now $5 back for every 167 points. In other words the payback is now 3% rather than 5%. And unused points now expire after only 90 days. (Time limit to redeem rewards earned remains at 45 days.)

I can understand price increases but to change the rewards program for loyal customers is insulting. I may go back to Petsmart.
